The History of Old MontrealLocated on the south side of the island along the shores of the Saint Lawrence River, Old Montreal is full of history! Even its Second Empire styled architecture and cobblestone streets won’t stop new condos from being built, giving the neighborhood the perfect balance between old and new.
This hidden gem, under the control of the French in the 17th century, became the heart of the metropolis in the beginning of the 20th century due to the bank’s head offices being situated right on St. James Street.
Today, Old Montreal is now known as the historic city of Montreal! It is one of the most visited neighborhoods by tourist and its reputation is second to none.
